Veterinary Surgeons

Guy Smith B.Vet.Med., MRCVS (Principal)

That's me on the left, before the pressures of running my own business aged me prematurely. Still, I've got less grey hair than Spot (on the right).

I qualified from the RVC in London, in 1994, then went to work in an old-fashioned mixed practice in Tamworth. Going from "State of the art", to the state of that practice, has given me an insight to the different levels of care and equipment that can be used to solve the same problems.

I'd like to think the practice is somewhere in the middle ground. If we think we need equipment, we buy it, but we don't have to use it on every case that comes through the door.

Alistair Wilson, BVMS, MRCVS *In stock, same day delivery some areas*

(Caption competition- Alistair is pondering in the kitchen. But is he thinking "... the Na/K ratio is consistent with hypoadrenocorticism", or is he just wondering where to get his pizza delivered from tonight?)

Our exciting new signing (OK it was nearly 12 months ago, I just don't update this very often), local lad Alistair has been lured back to Tamworth on a lucrative long-term contract.

Alistair has made small animal work his specialism, and whilst he doesn't want to work with farm animals anymore, he's quite happy to treat big dogs. He's not just the mainstay of our mobile service, but also a skilled surgeon and quite a thinker.

John Daft, BVM&S *End of range- discontinued*

John was our regular locum until he retired last September. We wish him well, (but wish he hadn't.)

Nick Smith, B.V.Sc. MRCVS *Limited availability*

Nick worked as a long-term locum before Alistair arrived. He'll be providing cover for our (very limited) holidays in future.

Veterinary Nurses

I've now added the coveted letters A1 after my name. We're a Nurse Training Practice,  I'm a qualified Assessor, and our first student has qualified this year.

*Congratulations to Gemma on passing her second-year RCVS exam*

*Congratulations to Kelly on passing her first-year RCVS exam*

Receptionists

We keep it in the family, and maybe that's a strength of our Practice. You'll usually find either my Wife or Mother-in-Law behind reception, assisted by 1 or 2 dogs, and possibly a toddler. While young vets tend to move between jobs, it's reassuring to see a familiar face behind reception.

Hannah Smith

Our youngest member of staff (aged 2yrs 11 months) is now spending more time at Nursery, and so may not be on hand to stroke your puppy/kitten. I'd hope that the experience she has gained here might be relevant to her future career. I'll let you know in 20 years, when I next update this site.
